Education and Economy

There was a man working in a big church. His job is to clean the church. One day while he was sweeping the floor, the bishop asked him whether he could write and read. He replied that he had never gone to school in his life and doesn’t even know his A. B.C. Then the bishop told him that the church was being attended by classical scholars, the rich and the prudent and insisted that those who worked in that church must know how to write and read. Saying so, he dismissed him from his post. The man left the church sadly and walked slowly to his house. It was two miles distance from the church to his house. Suddenly he wanted to smoke while he was walking but there was no shop selling cigarettes. Because of that situation, he thought "It would be a good idea if I sold cigarettes in a place like this” So he bought some cigarettes the next day and sold them. He got many buyers for his cigarettes. A few months later he had saved more money and extended his shop. He could also open a store before long. He was improving day by day. The more he improved, the larger he extended his store. Within ten years his life had totally changed. He was then a rich man who owned a big company but when he signed anything for his company, he had to ask his wife to sign on his behalf. When the other rich men knew that he could not write even his name, they predicted his fortune “If you, Sir, could write and read, we are sure you would be richer than we are now.
